Installation & use
Ready to go with BuggyFix
Click your BuggyFix onto the rear rack, adjust its distance from the bike and fit the protective rubber pads where needed. Follow the steps below to get set up.
Before you start
What you’ll need
- BuggyFix
- MIK Key S or MIK Key L and the MIK instructions
- 2 small self-adhesive rubber pads
- 1 larger rubber pad to protect your stroller
- 2 supplied alcohol wipes
- Phillips screwdriver
Keep your bike stable
Fit and adjust the BuggyFix without a stroller attached. Make sure your bike cannot tip over while you work.
Don’t have a MIK rear rack? Have the MIK Carrier Plate and its installation instructions ready too.
Prepare your rear rack
My rear rack has MIK
The BuggyFix clicks directly onto the MIK profile. Continue to step 2.
My rear rack doesn’t have MIK
First fit the MIK Carrier Plate to your rear rack. Follow the instructions supplied by MIK.
The Carrier Plate allows you to attach the BuggyFix’s MIK fitting to a suitable standard rear rack.
Click the BuggyFix into place
Your BuggyFix is supplied in its outermost position, as far from the bike as possible. This makes it easier to fit for the first time. Once fitted, adjust the distance to suit your bike as described in step 3. You only need to make this adjustment once.
- Choose the MIK Key S or L. Use the guide below to decide which suits you best.
- Use your chosen key when fitting the BuggyFix, following the supplied MIK instructions.
- Place the BuggyFix on your rear rack’s MIK profile or the fitted Carrier Plate and click it into place.
- Gently pull the BuggyFix upwards to check that the MIK fitting is fully engaged. It must not come loose.

MIK keys
Which key suits the way you use your BuggyFix?
Frequent removal
Key S · short
Ideal if you regularly take the BuggyFix off your bike.
- The short key is designed to stay in the fitting, so it has a very snug fit.
- Leaving it in place lets you release the BuggyFix quickly.
- You can remove the key, but it takes considerable force. Pull it firmly and straight out of the fitting; the tight fit is normal.
- With the key left in place, the fitting does not provide theft protection.
Leaving it on your bike
Key L · long
Ideal if you usually leave the BuggyFix fitted.
- Fit the BuggyFix using the long key.
- Remove the key after fitting; the mechanism stays locked.
- Use the long key again when you want to release the BuggyFix.
Adjust the position and fit the small rubber pads
The slots in the top section let you slide the BuggyFix closer to or further away from your bike. The two small adhesive rubber pads protect the contact points between the inside of the BuggyFix and the bike frame or rear rack.

- Loosen the four screws on top. Use a Phillips screwdriver. Loosen them just enough to slide the BuggyFix; do not remove them from the top section.
- Find the contact points. Carefully slide the BuggyFix towards the bike frame or rear rack. Check where the inside of the BuggyFix touches the bike.
- Decide where to fit a pad. Place the small pads at the contact points. If you’re unsure which point to use, choose the lowest one. You don’t have to use both pads if only one is needed.
- Make room and clean the surface. Slide the BuggyFix a little away from the bike. Use one of the two supplied alcohol wipes to remove any grease from the chosen spot on the inside of the BuggyFix. Allow it to dry.
- Attach the pad. Peel off the backing and stick a small rubber pad onto the clean surface. Repeat at the other contact point if needed.
- Set the final position. Slide the BuggyFix until the rubber lightly touches the frame or rear rack. Do not press or compress the rubber against the bike.
- Retighten all four screws. Hold the BuggyFix in position, then check that it no longer slides in the slots.
Light contact is enough. Keeping the rubber free from pressure against the bike makes it easy to click the BuggyFix on and off.
Protect your stroller where needed
On some strollers, a hard plastic part rests against the side plate. Use the larger supplied rubber pad to protect this contact point.

- Hang your folded stroller on the BuggyFix and check where the hard part touches the side plate.
- Remove the stroller. Clean that spot on the side plate with the second supplied alcohol wipe and allow it to dry.
- Stick the larger pad in place so it sits between the stroller’s hard plastic part and the side plate.
- Hang the stroller back on and check that the hard part rests on the rubber pad.
Hang your stroller on the BuggyFix
- Fold your stroller fully and check that the folding lock is securely engaged.
- Hang the stroller by its handlebar on the BuggyFix hook and let it rest against the side plate.
- Check that the stroller hangs securely and that the rubber pads are at the correct contact points.
- Keep loose straps, cords and accessories away from the wheel and brakes.
Check before every ride
Maximum load: 10 kg. Your stroller must weigh no more than 10 kg.
- The MIK fitting is securely engaged.
- The stroller is fully folded, locked in the folded position and securely supported by the BuggyFix.
- The stroller and any loose parts are clear of the wheel and brakes and do not interfere with pedalling.
After the first installation, take a short test ride in a quiet area. Then check the fitting and the stroller’s position again.
Use the BuggyFix with a suitable compact stroller. A rear-mounted child seat and the BuggyFix cannot be used on the rear rack at the same time. If you’re unsure, see the product information and FAQs.
Removing the BuggyFix
- Remove the stroller first.
- Release the MIK fitting with your chosen MIK key, following the supplied MIK instructions.
- Lift the BuggyFix off the rear rack.
Leave the four adjustment screws tightened to keep your setting for next time. Always check that the MIK fitting is securely engaged when you refit the BuggyFix.
Cleaning
Wipe the BuggyFix with a damp cloth and dry it afterwards. Check the screws and rubber pads regularly.
